Acidophilus and Bifidus are names of probiotics, i.e. friendly bacteria, which improve vitality and must constitute 98% of the intestinal flora of healthy people. They are necessary for reaching optimum health of the digestive tract, for strengthening the liver (and blood), and increasing the natural defensive powers.

In the best case scenario we should avoid factors which could disturb our bacterial ecosystem. For most people, this is impossible. Antibiotics, cortisone, contraceptives, alcohol, caffeine, chlorine or fluorine water, conserved foods, high carbohydrate and fatty diet, as well as stressful life can damage the healthy digestive flora.

Lactobacillus Acidophilus

This bacterium is a friend of the human organism. It is contained in some fermented milk products and food supplements. It does not allow the development of pathogenic microbes by obstructing their attachment to the intestinal walls, changes pH and oxygen content, and produces bactericidal substances (hydrogen peroxide, lactic and acetic acid); it produces enzymes, including galactase, which is necessary for milk sugar absorption – this can help people and newborns who are lactose intolerant; protects the intestines, urinal tracts and the reproductive system from bacterial and fungal infections; decreases cancerogenic formations in the intestines and prevents harmful bacteria developing there; decreases diarrhea after radiation or chemo therapy; lowers the levels of bad cholesterol;

 

Lactobacillus Bifidus

This is the other friendly bacteria, which is a normal inhabitant of the large intestine. It improves digestion and the absorption of proteins and fats, as well as retaining minerals such as phosphorus, calcium and iron. Removes constipation and thus helps clean the intestines and recuperate the liver. Decreases allergic reactions to milk and participates in metabolizing some cancerogenic substances, decreases the level of the bad cholesterol, produces hormones and the vitamins B and K.
